Defence Housing Australia in Darwin

Defence Housing Australia (DHA) has provided housing and housing related services to Defence members and their families to support Defence requirements for almost 40 years.

DHA sources properties through a mix of acquisitions, direct leasing from investors, long term and one-off industry partnerships, and through construction projects.

DHA has successfully developed residential communities in Darwin, including:

Breezes Muirhead, completed 2019

Breezes Muirhead is an award-winning development located on Darwin’s northern beaches and raised the bar for property and community development in the Northern Territory.

Breezes Muirhead holds innovative design features including spacious breezeways to capitalise on cooling ocean breezes, custom-designed recreation and exercise spaces – including Darwin’s first dedicated dog park, and a network of parks catering for toddlers through to teenagers.

The development featured 1,184 lots, with 283 properties for Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families. The remaining land lots, ranging from 400m2 to a spacious 4,000m2, were sold to the public.

Breezes Muirhead is a sought-after location and has garnered a reputation as one of Darwin’s premium areas to live, just minutes from beautiful tropical beaches, Darwin International Airport, shopping centres, schools and the popular Buffalo Creek boat ramp.

Muirhead North, Stage 1 completed 2022

The broader Lee Point development spans two sites on either side of Lee Point Road: the former Defence operation site known as 2 Control and Reporting Unit (2CRU) and Muirhead North.

The first stage of the Lee Point development in the Muirhead North site was completed in 2022 with 96 housing lots delivered.

Many of these quality and modern houses are now occupied, including by ADF members and their families.
